The Twilight Highlands, one of the homes of the Wildhammer dwarven clan, has been under siege by the agents of Deathwing, the Twilight Cult. Players are given various tasks to complete to bring the clans together and to help weaken the hold of the Twilight Cult.
Through questing, players are asked to assault a titanic monster that has burst through the land and is decimating the forces of the Earthen Ring. You hop on the back of a gryphon and are flown in to assault the beast, only to fall into its stomach with other members of the Earthen Ring.
Your first task is to keep the shaman safe while they perform a ritual inside of the behemoth to attempt to bring it down. The thing is, this part of the quest is made to make you fail. As you fall to the natural anti-bodies of the giant, you are saved before dying by the legendary Thrall himself. He brings you back to the lip of the Maelstrom and the tear through the elemental planes into the lands of Azeroth. You awake to find Thrall in the middle of combat with Deathwing himself, using the powers of earth, storm, fire and water to attempt to battle the beast. While fighting Deathwing, he is also still holding the elemental planes from collapsing back into Azeroth.
If that doesn’t scream epic story telling, then I have no clue what does. It was a truly awe inspiring moment and caught me completely off guard.
