With two new playable races just on the horizon, many players have been asking when they’ll be able to convert their existing characters into goblins or worgen. Paid faction and race changes will be available immediately once Cataclysm is released. Realm First achievements for leveling any class to 85 will be available in Cataclysm. However there will be no Realm First achievements associated with leveling characters of a specific race.
There will be a slight change to the way paid services work for goblins and worgen. Goblin and worgen characters wishing to change race or faction cannot be in Kezan, Lost Isles or Gilneas; they must be elsewhere to initiate the process. There are no restrictions on race/faction change to goblin or worgen.
There are two ways to look at this.
1. Blizzard is giving their customers exactly what they want and showing some fan-loving, by allowing people to switch to their desired race as soon as possible to have fun.
2. Blizzard, knowing that there are a lot of people who will be swept up in the moment at launch and will want to race change just for the fuck of it, is thinking about just how much extra coin they’ll be able to make.

Considering a race change?
As sad as it is to admit it, I am considering a race change for my Night Elf Druid.
Yeah, I’m actually considering race-changing my main. I love my Blood Elf Mage but all the BElf hating, for years, is grating on my nerves. Haven’t fully decided yet (tried all possible Horde races with the free race-changes in beta and none felt totally right) but I’d consider doing it. Might not do just because I’ll get the CE and spent 70bucks on that already anway so another 20 right away… probably not.
I’ll definitely faction-change my Dwarf Hunter to Goblin though, to have him on Horde finally (loved Dwarves but everything else I have and everyone I know is Horde so he’s kinda lonely) and because it reminds me of the only thing I liked about Warhammer Online - the Squigg Herder. ^^
Other than that I might just have to race-change my female Blood Elf Rogue to a female Goblin because again, Blood Elf, and the female goblin sneaking animation kicks major ass.
Sadly, I’ve got very little interest in Goblins. I don’t know. I’ll have to play around a bit and get a feel for them as playable characters and not just annoying NPCs.
