Yesterday, the gaming world caught its breath, in a manner befitting the most hardcore of geeks, as it was announced that we were going to receive one of the most awesome cross-overs in modern portable gaming. Level-5 had a press conference which they called “Vision”. They went on to discuss several new titles, however they saved the best for last.
They announced that they and Capcom will be teaming up for a Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright cross-over!
I get a chill up my back every time I say that.
The game will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS with no word yet as to whether it will also be made available for the DS. If not, this will quite literally be a console seller, as many people will feel this is a must purchase (yours truly included).
The game title hasn’t been translated to English yet (as the press conference was in Japanese), however the announced Layton Kyouju vs. Gyakuten Saiban translates into Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney.
Shu Takumi, director of the Ace Attorney series, was present for the announcement.
The story for the game appears quite interesting. Layton and Wright are in a different wold wherein reality is dictated by a villain named the Story Teller, whose written word becomes fact. This world, Labyrinth City, has illusions, witches, and all manner of magic.
Layton resumes his role of puzzle-sover, while Wright goes to trial to save a young woman falsely accused of witchcraft.
This trailer just dropped today, and I’m hoping for a translation soon.
No release date has been given yet.
