In the newest PSM3 issue, Games Director for Batman: Arkham City, Sefton Hill, has provided a few clues as to some upgrades that Bats will be getting.
One will be a way for Batman to scan the criminal database for informants, so that he’ll know who to put some pressure on for some information.
As with nearly every area of the game we’re enhancing it. One example is the criminal database coupled with the new interrogation mechanic. The Riddler continues to taunt the Dark Knight with mind-bending puzzles and exploration challenges, but the location of his biggest secrets are known only to him and people he’s told. Rather than unlocking their locations using maps, Batman will be able to scan a gang of thugs to find a potential informant.
This will pose a challenge when Batman is fighting mobs in FreeFlow combat, as he’ll need to avoid taking down the informer.
This is the guy you need to question, but first you’ll have to take down all the other gang members while sparing the one you want. That can be tough when Batman’s in a seamless FreeFlow combo chain.
I’m all for more challenging fights, as FreeFlow did make certain encounters fairly simple and just a frenzied button mash.
On a side note, Rocksteady has stated that Arkham City is “complete and playable from start to finish”. That, my friends, is probably the best news I’ve heard all day.
